About Us

Northumberland County Rescue Squad was founded in 1963 in Reedville, Virginia.  For over 60+ years Volunteers continue to provide Emergency Medical Services to the local community. Over the years, Northumberland County's population has grown leading to a higher reported number of Emergency Medical calls. In 1993 a second station house was established in Burgess, Virginia to accommodate and better serve the community. Years later in 2019, Northumberland County Rescue Squad (NCRS) Volunteers worked hard alongside commissioned builders (over several months) to build an addition for the Burgess Station. (NCRS) continues to thank the community for it's generous donations, and to the Jessie Dupont Memorial  Grant. Thanks to years of support from volunteers and our community, the organization continues to serve and provide Emergency Medical Services. In an effort to share the same kindness and generosity, NCRS donated the Reedville Station to our local affiliates at Fairfield's Fire Department.  For many years Fairfield's Volunteer Firefighter's have assisted Northumberland County Rescue Squad providing courageous mutual-aid assistance to the community!   As of 2022, the Burgess Station is now Northumberland County Rescue Squad's sole location.
